Areas of focus:

Forming Young Global Leaders: We develop and facilitate trainings and retreats in the United States and Africa for young adults working to alleviate poverty. Through creating sustainable processes for inquiry and reflection, Still Harbor encourages them to test the logic behind their thinking, approach problems and decisions with humility and deepen their resolve to be of service to others.

Sustaining Staff Engaged in Nonprofit Social Justice Work: We support a community of leaders of innovative projects and nascent not-for-profit organizations who are serving poor and marginalized populations. Our partners work across the United States and around the globe. Still Harbor sustains them in their commitment to social justice through training in reflective practices, and provides opportunities for learning, networking, and mutual support with the aim of forging new alliances and creating effective collaborations.

Tending to the Interior Needs of Individuals of Students, & Mid-Career Professionals: We provide monthly, one-on-one accompaniment through hour-long sessions where people examine their values, motivations and callings. The goal is to better integrate who they are with what they do.

For professionals, the first half of life is about mastery: the acquisition of knowledge, the development of family, the establishment of a successful career and the achievement of one's mark in the public sphere. When they arrive at the mid-point in their career, many find that work no longer provides the sense of purpose and meaning it once did. Still Harbor will encourage professionals to find out who they are beyond their professional identities by participating in one-in-one direction and facilitated small group encounters.
While on the surface, these two groups might seem quite distinct, they have much in common and much to offer each other. We are hoping to show that personal and social transformation are inseparably linked and mutually reinforcing, and that it is vital to connect young people who are deeply committed to changing the world with professionals who are wondering how they might be of greater help in bringing about change.
